Millhopper Book Club

February 8, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Come enjoy reading and virtually discussing newer fiction and nonfiction titles. We discuss each title on Goodreads for a whole month. We also virtually discuss it live via Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. The Zoom link can be found monthly on our Live Virtual Program page and will be posted at the beginning of each month on the Goodreads monthly discussion board. In February, in correlation with Black History Month, we will read and discuss, The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris. “Twenty-six-year-old editorial assistant Nella Rogers is tired of being the only Black employee at Wagner Books. Fed up with the isolation and microaggressions, she’s thrilled when Harlem-born and bred Hazel starts working in the cubicle beside hers. They’ve only just started comparing natural hair care regimens, though, when a string of uncomfortable events elevates Hazel to Office Darling, and Nella is left in the dust. Then the notes begin to appear on Nella’s desk: LEAVE WAGNER. NOW. It’s hard to believe Hazel is behind these hostile messages. But as Nella starts to spiral and obsess over the sinister forces at play, she soon realizes that there’s a lot more at stake than just her career.” — Amazon The Zoom discussion will be Tuesday, Feb.  at 1 p.m. To join the Millhopper Book Club on Goodreads, please answer the Challenge Question(s). Once your request has been approved, you will be able to participate on the discussion board. Books will be available for discussion for the entire month, so you will have all of February to talk about The Other Black Girl with other book club members.
