Confronting the Past: Racial Truth and Reconciliation, presented by the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program

February 15, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

SPOHP Student and community panelists will discuss the historical legacies of events such as the Ocoee, Florida Election Day Massacre, the Groveland Four case and the Elaine, Arkansas Massacre. We will also focus on the ways that UF students are contributing to efforts by the Alachua County Remembrance Committee to use the histories of racial trauma and anti-Black violence to build more honest civic dialogues today. No reconciliation and healing can be done without confronting the past. Contact Adolfho Romero or Tamarra Jenkins for more information and viewing options.
